A good turnout in the sweltering heat to hear choirs from our local schools, the only downside was that the fountain was closed down and the fencing blocked out clear photos for parents who wanted to take photos.
A great start to the weekend overall.

Well done every one - looking foward to being down there tomorrow.
That side wall of the Best Kebab shop looks really good now; I understand the front looks pretty good too. Well done Dover Society and DDC.

China Crisis were very entertaining and had us all dancing.Didn't realise they had had so many memorable hits. Looking forward to tomorrow. Paul Jones's Blues Band are a great live act.

Glad you had a great time Judith - I was at Crabble Corn Mill listening to Brendan Power singing a song about life's near misses while lightning was flashing all around and the river raging, wondering if we were about to contribute to another verse in his song!

The weather is looking better hope it turns out real good for them its very good for Dover hope it comes back each year.
A lot of work goes into getting this kind of events off the ground and pitfalls on the way,as that happen to myself some years ago.
But they have done a lot better job of it then I did..

I do not go to events anymore but a lot of work has gone into this so I hope to give it some support on Sunday.
We love music and singing and there was a great show last night in Scotland and it was on B.B.C 1.
There are some very good woman singers young and old about at this time and some of the singers both men and woman go on and and on, age does not matter anymore.
I might even give it a try again myself.
To see the very young school children singing is good,in my days at school there was not many schools that done it.
I was lucky because Astor Jr had a school orchestra which I was a member of.
Music is the only thing that can still bring nations of the whole world together again and any church that do less talking and play lots of music are the ones that are full the Dover Ark is one of them.

Good to see so many people in Pencester enjoying themselves.
I didn't get back to Dover until 6pm, but met some friends in Town and went to Pencester for a while. Great atmosphere and good to see (for the first time ?) a beer tent - run by the Park Inn.
I thought it a very good idea to have two "stage" lorries so as one band finished, another could start up.
The only gripe was that rubbish was being bagged up (which was good), but the number of bags was quite large at 6pm and I'm sure that by the time the rain started about 8pm or so, it would have been very large.
A pity that the bags weren't taken away several times during the day; if they were left over night, the gulls and foxes would have been very happy and Pencester look a complete mess.
Very well done the organisers, a great event.
Anyone go to see Paul Jones ?

I was in Pencester yesterday, see the second of Howards pics, I am on the left carting a big black camera case about. I was there to photograph the Old Country Crows who played a fine set at 1.45, I really hope that the festival proves to be the success it deserves to be, a great effort by all concerned. With things like this happening, the market, (Italian market to come?) new pubs opening etc etc, this can only be good for the town. Port of Call is great and I do like the photos on display in there.

I was at the Paul Jones gig. They were excellent as always. I have seen them play a few times over the years. There were about the same number of people as at the China Crisis night. Both bands seemed pleased with the reception they received from the Dover audience. We had to come back to Leicestershire today after a lovely week in Dover so we didn't see any bands today. The festival was a great event for the town and obviously involved a huge amount of work for the organisers. A big thank you to Ray et al. I hope it will become an annual event.

I did not go in the end. watching the open till 1900hrs.
But the weather held out so that helped a lot.
Just hope it all paid for itself in the end if it did then lets hope it comes back next year.
It is always the same unless some one underwrites any lost of funding.
Funding all ways turns out to be the telling point and the big worry of any events put on.

Thanks Judith - pleased they were good and you enjoyed your week-end. I completely agree it was very good for the Town and residents. I wish I could have seen more, but not to worry.
I understand the bands gave their time for free; no cost for the hire of the Town Hall and China Crisis and Paul Jones were ticket only, so hopefully there won't have been too much financial risk.
I'd say it was definitely worth doing again.

My family and I all enjoyed the Music Festival this week-end. It was great to see the bands and groups playing from Maison Dieu House, down to the Market Square and into Pencester Gardens. So much local and, not so local, talent on show against the iconic back drop of the Castle. Our thanks to the organisers and participants - very good event, which we hope will become a regular fixture in Dover's annual events calendar.
