The museum suffered a flood after a fire hose leaked at the weekend and it will be closed until further notice
Thankfully no artifacts were damaged but there is a lot of drying up to do, it has affected the work on the fascade and there is new flooring needed in several area
Been nice knowing you :)

That's a shame - for visitors and the museum; hope the cost isn't too high and time to do it, too long.
Roger
What a pity! I hope it isn't too badly damaged and that it opens again soon. It is a great venue.

Jon, the Curator of Dover Museum must be tearing his hair out. I'll try and find out the extent of the damage.

There present 'open' regimen may reflect the fact that there is still much do be done behind the scenes and what staff there is available should spend as much time as possible at such work and not be lolling about on the off-chance that one or two members of the public may drift through.
They, perhaps, could open during lunchtimes, but they too must eat.

a lot more than 1 or 2 tom at this time of year it is usually busy with cruise passengers who can't help but walk past it on their way into town.

I am told that they are aiming to have the Museum open mid to late August.
There are several reasons for this - taking up of old floors and laying of new flooring, re-wiring etc. and re-=plumbing.
With regard to organised parties they are ORGANISED, with chaperones, teachers marshalling the children where they are allowed to go and access is via the library to adhere to various regulations.

They should have got Anneke Rice to organise the work.

Is a Visitor Information Centre what we would once have called a Tourist Information Centre? Is this national re-branding?
As it stands I am not sure what I would expect from a Visitor Information Centre but that may just be me.
