Rubbish:

These pictures are just in from Doverforum reader
Peter Hart.
The aim this time, alas, is not to show the magnificent Heron in all his elegant glory, but unfortunately to highlight the ghastly habitat the poor creature has to endure while enjoying his sojourn here in Dover. The theme running through all three pictures is of course rubbish.... Peter says that there are literally "mountains" of rubbish in the area between Charlton Green and Danes Court.

The DDC will come and collect it when it gets bad it seems, but they wont touch it in the River Dour. The reason always given to Peter Hart is ..."Brown Trout!" They, the DDC, cant touch any of the rubbish in the river for fear of disturbing the trout, but surely there must be some level of compromise. Even the trout cant like the plastic bottles, the coke tins, the beer cans and the shopping trolleys. The problems with plastic and wildlife have been highlighted very much recently on the TV News, on Wildlife programmes and so on, but it looks like it falls on deaf ears around here. Pity therefore the habitat of the Heron. PB
