Its Showtime !!!...and heeeeeeere's Johnny!!

All Pictures by Colette Boland - You dont have to be crazy to be in Show Business but it sure helps! And these three are crazier than most. Although they werent actually treading the boards, just helping behind the scenes , they look to have embraced the all round 'luvvyness' and are having a high old time of it. Anyone fancy a nibble!!? that ice cream looks very tempting. Of course that's the one and only ace forumite young Ian Lillford in the centre with groupies from left Una Mills and Alison Williams. But what is Ian doing to Alison??....lets not even go there!!

You may have been wondering about that lurid headline..."Heeeere's Johnny!", well here he is. The man himself. The one who stepped up to the plate to organise this fantastic HELP FOR HEROES show, all for a marvellous charity. Yes its none other than Cllr John Goodwin and another top forumite he is too. He worked very hard on this and it was all a rip roaring success. Thats John on the righthandside. The tall friendly chap on the left is Rob Pooley who is the charity's official County Volunteer for Kent.

At this juncture I will slip in ColetteB's report on the evening...

Help 4 Heroes

Congratulations to John Goodwin and his team for putting together a really great and professionally run show. The evening was a tremendous success with young talent from Dover entertaining a packed town hall on Saturday night. Everyone really enjoyed a vibrantly entertaining evening of singing and dancing which covered a massive range of styles including We will Rock You, by the students from St Edmunds School. There were excerpts from a variety of musicals and theatre by DODS and Dover Youth Theatre including two very talented young girls who sang their hearts out, also Drumming and Violin solo's, not forgetting the talented dancers from CJ's strutting their stuff, Louise Orfila and Ebony belted out a selection of songs and there was much more. The audience were riveted to their seats throughout the entire show amazed by the professionalism of the youngsters from Dover District. To cap off the evening there was a poignant moment as many a tear was shed when a moving poem was read out by Service Personnel about a daughter passing on a hug to her Daddy, with a bugler from the Dover Sea Cadets playing out the show, truly moving. All this was put together by John to raise monies for a well deserving cause, Well Done to him and all involved with this wonderful show.

Added Note: The soldiers ie Service Personnel were James McCleary (son-in-law of Terri Deane, see Terri below) and Stephen Lynn (best man at James's wedding who married Terri Deane's daughter Donna) James and Donna are parents to Terri's grand daughter Peyton who is about 8 months old.

The pic on the left above again shows Cllr John Goodwin, impressario, with local MP Gwyn Prosser. Gwyn enjoyed the show and no doubt the whole evening afforded him a bit of a breather from all thoughts of politics....in case you havent noticed there is an election looming before too long and no doubt Gwyn will be back in the fray shortly to meet any challenge. The pic on the right shows from left Steve Ladner, Radio Kent presenter and terrific Lifeboat volunteer crewman. Steve was featured in the recent C5 TV series about the RNLI. Next to Steve is Jan Tranter Deputy Mayor of Dover, then high flying Hotel Manager of Ramada fame Michelle(Sheli) Sheppard. Jan and Sheli are also active forumites, on the right is Steve's wife Helen.

These are the students from St Edmunds School who recently received much praise for their performance in the show...WE WILL ROCK YOU. They performed some sections from that show and it all went down a real treat. And very dynamic it was too by all accounts. These guys have so much talent.

On the left there we have the lovely Louise Orfila who has already made lots of headlines both locally and further afield. She is a very smooth nightclub singer with a very good entertaining voice. She writes her own songs and is already being hailed as a considerable talent. She also performed very well on the night. No doubt we will be hearing much more from Louise. On the right we have Michelle Sheppard again, this time hugging Terri Deane who is known on the forum here as Terrismark. See the note above about Terri. Very genuine and supportive members of the community are these two girls.

Last of all and certainly not least are the super energetic youngsters below from CJ's Dance and Fitness Centre. More very successful local performers these, among other feats they have reached the dizzy heights of Britains Got Talent and other illustrious performances. They did a great show on the night. Well done all. Paul Boland
