Paper Boat Race Day-Aug 25.

26 August 2007

All previous frontpage features can be found in the Magazine section.

The man himself, yes Fab Forumite Marek enjoying the Paper Boat Race day with his lovely lil Fab Forumite of the Future daughter Natascha. The weather was good and all the kids enjoyed racing their paper boats in the blazing sunshine. Many found it soooo exciting, not only the paper boat racing but the rubber duck racing too. Lovely for the kids. Well done Marek and Natascha. This lovely picture managed to knock the Tory Boys (see below) off the top slot this time.

Heavy weight political types getting ready to launch! Yes the mighty Tory fleet limbering up in harmony ready to set sail and ready for any obstacle ahead, be it calm or murky waters. All numbered up as you can see and about to check their sou'westers and ...but whats this, is that a Labourite in their midst!?? Cant be....well I never !
L to R: Ken Tranter ex- mayor, Jan Tranter ex- mayor and intruding socialist,Charlie Elphicke, parliamentary candidate,Barry Williams ex local Party Chairman, and the man on the far right and last but certainly not least Nigel Collor top councillor.

The pic on the left shows the lovely Dianne Smallwood, Deputy Mayor, who made a nice little opening speech to welcome all to the event. Here she stands in close harmony with 'Commander' Stewart Dimmock who ceremonially launched the opening race from the wee bridge above the stream. The pic on the right shows our man Terry Nunn, sound man to the stars and hot contestant in the current hot shirt vogue, interviewing highly active activist and now councillor, the cheerful Chris Precious himself.

The pic on the left shows the DCAL girls who again did their bit to cheer up the event as they do wherever they go. They did a very polished job too. L to R; Jordan Sehmbi, Saskia Wadsworth-Smith, Jorja Sehmbi and Jessica Lorenz. Pic on right shows David Somers, Town Centre Manager, in full Johnny Depp Pirate outfit complete with dark and forboding ballooons which were great fun. David certainly looked the part and worked hard to make it all hang together.

Great fun picture this. Luvit!! Dashing Stewart Dimmock who was a big hit with all the girls..well they go for a chap in a uniform, poor weak things that they are !... seen here getting to grips with his new role as Commander of the Seven Seas, and enjoying some of the fringe benefits, a big hearted embrace with ColetteB. Stewart was great fun as ever..a great character.
