Roger, I am from the Maxton Elmsvale Priory ward, and as you know, citizens of EU member states can vote in local elections.
People from Eastern Europe who I have spoken with gave me some reasons why they wouldn't vote.

Many Eastern Europeans I've spoken to in Dover have a very harsh opinion of their own governments and don't feel any connection whatsoever towards UK politicians.

But they feel attached to their own respective countries and give the impression of wishing for something better than what they currently have there.
Personally I think many Brits think the same for our Country, and I certainly do.

I'm listening right now to Occitanian music in the southern French language d-Oc.

Last year at Dover Castle, English Heritage had a group performing, where one lady sang in old Kentish-English, another in Medieval French of the langue d'ouil, and yet another in Occitanian French.
They were perfect in their performance.

I'm looking forward to the next English Heritage display at the Castle with British and German soldiers later this month.
For English Heritage members entry is free, perhaps for members there is only a one pound entry to be paid for some exhibitions.
