This problem has been on the cards for ages but our political masters have been avoiding facing up to the situation, each trying to be greener than thou.
Forget the voluntary bit it will be compulsory if we have a bad winter 2014/5.
Common sense says that all this scheme does is steal money from the poor and gives to the richer. The money doesn't come from the magic electric tree - it comes from those who can least afford to pay their bills.
Labour still keep bleating on about the poor but it was these cretins who set the scheme up in the first place.
Funny how people still insist on voting for them but find themselves poorer each time.
Their core support comes from Guardian and Mirror readers, welfare recipients and those too deluded to think for themselves.
No matter how they spin this it's still an epic fail. Without subsidies from the poor, those who can least afford these ugly rooftop accouterments, there really is no financial gain for anyone to own them. If the price does come down all it will mean is a further blight on the eye. There's nothing worse (except for windfarms of course) than the sight of these awful panels installed on the roof.
But of course dyed in the wool ecoloon tofu knitting save the planet types feel a warm glow when they see them.
Weirdos!
