I just got out of the habit of checking in here, due to life/work etc. Been thinking of checking in here again lately and then after the elections I was curious to see what the reaction to them on here was.

I had to have a very hard think about how to vote in the elections. Despite the six foot long scroll that was the ballot paper, I had issues with all the parties. But in the end I went UKIP and am happy that I did. Farage is the most capable of the party leaders, and both the established political/media classes in this country and the Eurocrats needed a major shot across the bows. UKIP is not perfect, but I've yet to see a political party that is. Its a young party still finding its feet, and if it goes in the right direction it could be a major force for good and the rejuvenation of British politics. Boris Johnson describes it as a new peasants revolt; I'm proud to be a small part of such a thing! But I think UKIP needs to avoid being pigeon-holed as a party of the right. There are good ideas and lessons to be drawn from both left and right, maybe UKIP can transcend the tired old formulas of the political spectrum? We'll have to wait and see.
