  You must obviously have been privy to David’s innermost thoughts then Keith. Naturally, as a candidate, you have to project an optimistic image, but I don’t recall at any time did he actually believe that he would oust Charlie even though he worked his socks off in the attempt.
  
  Probably David’s biggest hurdle to overcome at the time was the “wasted vote” syndrome, ie., the fear of letting one of your lot in!
