  All very odd since locally this is picking on their core voter - with the exception of a few mad Trots (mostly local councillors) and half a dozen embittered ex-miners.

  I thought that multiculturalism was now discredited, Trevor Philips said as much when he was head of the Commission for Racial Equality some years back.
