Personally, I much prefer an appointed House of Lords. As it stands, there is no question of which house is supreme, as only the Commons is democratically elected. That would change if both Houses were elected, and would lead to legislative gridlock. Secondly, the Lords contains a lot of good people, with plenty to offer, who are simply not interested in running for election. The loss of this expertise would be a great shame, especially if it replaced by more politicians playing the same games as they do in the commons. The make-up of the Lords is not perfect, and still needs reform, but it is better than many of the alternatives.
