As things stand Dave will not be joining in unless the leader of the green party is there although party strategists are saying that is just an excuse - the real reason is the fear of being upstaged by Miliband and Farage. The Prime Minister is an accomplished TV performer so I am surprised by this apparent decision.

I would be suprised if it was fear of being upstaged. Personally I think the televised debates are a farce it focuses too much on the man and not the policies and party that this country needs to get back on it's feet and out in front again. Now if it was Ed backing out we would all agree his lack of charisma would be the reason

I don't go much on these debates, too American for me. I believe that 2010 was the first time all 3 leaders took part. at previous elections the one trailing in the opinion polls calls for a debate but the one ahead refuses as they have much to lose.
I can remember Michael Foot challenging Margaret Thatcher back in 1983 she naturally refused.

I never watch the televised debates life is to short to watch our politicians bickering with each other they do enough of that at various other times.
Out of fairness if UKIP are taking part so should the Green Party and any other party that has sitting MPs.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Perhaps it should just be the respective home secretaries or the most entertaining candidates for each party; Boris, Tom Watson and Nigel Farage perhaps?

An American thing that has taken over our campaigns, not been very successful in choosing their Presidents has it?
