Tax's payers ripped of
I see the conservative party's government are moving the debts of network rail
Over to the taxpayers
But it's only £ 30'bilon!!!
And the £600 million profitable, re nationalised east coast railway is being re privatised.

network rail's shareholders won't be complaining though.

Even the late Mrs T. saw the privatisation of the railways as a step too far!
I'm not sure that any Friedmanphile could justify the fact that we now pay more in subsidies than we did when the system was nationalised. Anyone that suggests that the current service is better than that of the nationalised predecessor must realise that progress eventually applies to all sectors.
It should be noted that the East Coast service (a good comparator for those hellbent on privatising their own grandparents) is held as an example of publically owned and not necessarily state run.

Perhaps the dead hand of the state is a problem, but maybe the shareholders should not just be those who already have more than those who are crippled by travelling to work by 'public' transport.
Before anyone attempts to disregard my post as inverted class snobbery (saying that we could all hold shares); I demand to know the number of shareholders who travel by train to work.
This is as much of an enquiry as a challenge.

good to see you posting daz you have a knack of setting us a challenge.
without doubt the journeys made each day by people simply going to work should not be subject to the few profiteering but a service.

And re-renationalised:

But it's ok as, according to Grayling, it will cost us nothing '
at this time.'

Mrs TV also said privatisation of Royal mail was a step to far. It's in an awful state crap wage longer delivery spans in all weathers over zealous managers who are trigger happy on discipline issues spent 18 years with Royal mail the last 4 were he'll on earth. Sold off cheaply and continues to be run into the ground

Howard, the phrase that seems suitable for that group is 'not fit for purpose'.

Horton's egg fails to hatch; I hope he's paid off with a season ticket:

Note: Mr Horton should not be confused with Horton the elephant, who is thick-skinned but competent.

In a few minutes, at 0754 this morning, the first LNER train since 31 December 1947 will be departing Newcastle bound for London King's Cross. Now
that's progress:
