Captain who is the Mayor of Deal 2017/8

There are those who say David Cronk has been elected ................. but history is usually (re)written by the victor?

The Town Clerk has received a query from a councillor regarding the voting procedure held at the meeting of the council on 22 May 2017.
It is understood that although no councillor raised a point of order at the time some members are worried that due process was not followed.
It is usual practice to follow the voting on appointments procedure as detailed in the standing orders, however as Cllr Burnham indicated to me that she would not be accepting the nomination for her to stand as Mayor, and no councillor raised their hand or spoke at the meeting to indicate there were any other nominations I moved straight on with the next agenda item.
Please note that the standing order for nominations is not statutory and is not a legal requirement.
It was my understanding that all members at the meeting realised this and as no query was made were happy for the meeting to proceed.
Taking the above facts into account and legal advice from KALC I will not be calling a special meeting to retake a vote.
If you require further clarification please let me know.
    Cllr D Cronk
    Chairman of the Council
