I'm sure everyone knows my view on these moves by the Labour Party.

Over the years Labour has imposed candidates in Dover and this puts those wanting to vote for an alternative to this Govt in a difficult position.

Many women in the past in the local labour party have opposed moves to impose candidates
Most women and all members recognise that by selecting the best person for the job is far better than imposing someone, that maybe no one supports, or have the ability in that role.

Obviously there is a need to encourage everyone to take an active part, but if the labour are having to impose candidates because they feel some sections won't entertain sections such as women, them maybe the party needs to look at better ways of getting people involved.

Whenever parties impose candidates, it divides the party and local community and gives people little choice at election time.
