Possibly slightly off topic, but for all those who see refugee camps as a temporary solution, there's an interesting book out on the Dadaab, the world's largest refugee camp, set up in 1992 to provide short-term (sic) relief for refugees fleeing Somalia, it now has 500,000 people in it, larger than most of the large towns in Norther Kenya where it is situated.

One wonders how long it will be before the inhabitants of the 'Jungle' outnumber the good burghers of Calais?
Perhaps we should consider doing our bit and taking in a few tens of thousands from Dadaab as well? (Though picking of course those who are in most need of protection and therefore likely to become the greatest burden on our social services).
