Politics is legalised Crime...............Crime by our consent.
Our choice is the lesser and most acceptable of the evils.

I would like to see more independents standing to give a better democracy,
And a proportional representation system

unfortunately that was what did happen on DTC but instead of being independent they were alighned to political parties in disguise, so that doesn't work either

i have always backed proportional representation although it would mean we don''t get to choose an m.p with that method.
good independents can do well but they have to build a reputation in their community.

Maybe we could go "american" and sue them for breach of contract? Subtract wages (predetermined performance rates) if they fail to deliver on promises and lie detectors when they try to shift the blame onto the opposition! Could be fun.....

Given the history of the posters in #1 and #2 and I can't believe they don't see the irony of what they have said.

it would be ridiculous to expect politicians to carry out their manifesto promises, besides most of us don't believe them anyway. people say things in the runup to an election then find later that circumstances have changed so commitments
are promptly ditched.
