 - Read today that the reds will out them all once they rise to power next May. seems a good idea to me as the voter turnout is abysmal and our own Anne Barnes doesn't come across as someone that will make a positive contribution locally.

 - One thing I agree with get rid of them they are of no use and costing £100.000 year.
Should never had them in the first place.

 - I agree, our one does not seem to have done anything that the previous system could not have put in place.

I certainly do not like the idea that no person seems to have the authority to get rid of an elected police commisioner, I am thinking of South Yorkshire's Shaun Wright who refuses to resign.

 - Unfortunately the days when Her Majesty could say "Chop off their head!" if she didn't like someone are long gone, she wouldn't get involved with a political decision but would only confirm a recommendation by the government.

 - I favour the idea of elected chief constables, US-style. And elected executive mayors too, for that matter. Certainly the idea of an elected political figure with a one-on-one reporting relationship with the chief constable seems totally ridiculous to me. What a waste of money. - I'm an optimist. - Not often we disagree Peter but the last thing we need is another layer of elected bureaucracy. What we need is the existing representatives to do their jobs properly
