Having looked at those figures I now realise why Scotland want devolution, it is to increase their population so long as the open border policy holds maybe we can send our numerous unwanted immigrants up there.

That is truly shocking and shows the dangers of allowing Labour back in next year.
How anyone can say that the kind of open door immigration we have had for many years, is good for Britain. It would have been less harmful, if it wasn't open-door, but allow quality in - those with English, who have skills and a job and accommodation.
Even then it would be a drain on our limited resources and services - welfare/benefits, education, health, housing, police etc. tc.
We have far too many now and while we remain in the EU, there's very little, if anything, we can do about it.

Can't blame just the last government Roger, the current one is just as bad, they know the desire for cheap labour for their donors.

Yes, I appreciate that Howard and it is very disappointing to me; not sure though if it is because of supplying cheap labour to Tory party donors.
It's wrong in principle and in practice whoever is in Government, or as I stated above, the main problem has been open-door immigration and I'm sure if we really wanted to, could curb the numbers. A points system like they have in Oz would be best.

What has been the tory party stance on immigration since 2010?
I know immigration is rising, just curious, that's all.

Therein lies the problem they have a stance that says cut nett immigration to the tens of thousands each year but no policy to carry it out.

The trouble is that because we are in the EU, we can't cut numbers; we can only cut those from outside the EU, including the Commonwealth and most of those would know the language, probably have better skills levels and would be working from the off

Not actually correct Roger, many countries opted for a time gap before opening their borders, ours didn't.
What could the EU actually do if our government suddenly said "sorry border's closed unless we choose to let certain people in"?

Which we should be entitled to do going by the figures in Howard's opening post.

All let in by the conservative party

Roger
Well there we have it.
Roger is a Conservative Councillor, paid to represent his party. He is arguing for a points based system, exactly what UKIP have advocated for years.
Is this Tory policy? NO
Will Roger continue to vote for and represent the Conservative party? YES
This is an affront to democracy and typifies the sheeplike attitude of our politicians.
A plague on all your houses, you're a disgrace.

Here we go again with the Roger bashing just because he is brave enough to give his personal opinion.
How about telling us what UKIP plan to do should they ever get an MP never mind enough of them to form a government, at the moment they come across as a party full of wind but not much substance.

Agree with you about Roger Jan, the overwhelming majority of local councillors avoid social media and act in unaccountable manner particularly at town level so anyone that does put their head above the parapet gets the full blast on behalf of the others.

Jan, Roger is accountable to the electorate, if he is prepared to post he should be prepared to be held to account.
UKIP immigration policy is clear as I suspect you know: a points system based on the Australian model where we intake who we need.
I'm very happy to criticise politicians of ALL parties. Roger takes it personally, that's up to him, I happen to think DDC is run by incompetent people, nothing that Roger or Paul Watkins posts on here has made me change my mind.

David, that does not excuse the continued repetitive needless posts you keep making about Roger I am afraid it does not put you in a very good light.
I notice you prefer not to comment on my other point is that because UKIP have no policy except to bash Europe and the other political parties and their representatives.

Jan, believe me I don't dish out anywhere near as much as I receive, you never hear me moaning about it. My point is all about principled politicians. On my travels its the continual theme, that people say one thing and do another, the tories at DDC are a perfect example and I'm very happy to expose them, its part of my role.
Our manifesto is out in late Sept (well ahead of the others may I add), in the meantime if you'd like to ask about specifics I'll try to respond.
