I'm a little perplexed that as a local I am only allowed to post on the Politics forum when someone from across the pond is accepted without question.

Very strange indeed Victoria.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Anyone can become a full member just by applying, we have a thousand now(lesson to be learned maybe). Giving a real name doesn't really matter but insulting someone's intelligence does.

Which is apparently why I lurk in the outer darkness here.

Are you saying that you are not really a ship's master?

Of course he is Howard, this is him landing on The Goodwins to protect them from the robber barons of DHB..

Thanks for putting my mind at rest Ray, it is clear now that the Captain will not back down from the evil Bluebeard (Tim Tim) Waggott and his henchmen especially as he has Tin Tin as back up.

Strangely enough that is my lifetime motto Reg, comes from a Japanese children's story and has served me well.
Looks like Mr Victoria and me are soul mates.

Surprised you are interested in that Captain, just some weird councillor coming up with a hair brained scheme. Should you wish to join just think up a sensible name like Willie Eckerslike or Roland Butter.

There seems to be some discrimination here about where folks can post, don't recall that when I signed up but that was before the quarantining of political threads.

Blistering Barnacles! I really don't see why I should have to write under a pseudonym!
I take it since 'howard mcsweeney1' is being used 'howard mcsweeney2' would be suitable?

You could always Harbourmaster Haddock, it's got a nice alliterative sound about it and I'm sure your distant relative in Hayle isn't likely to read these pages and notice.

So it's the 'Captain' bit that causes the problem? Too elitist eh! Would Archibald Haddock be better? Or even A Haddock? Though I would much prefer A Haddock (Capt) since I spent many years man and boy working towards my rank (unlike a certain Thanet councillor!)

Pay no heed to interlopers from Ilford Captain, at least we are locals not newcomers. They do bring in new ideas with them though.
No problem with the moniker Captain I believe you and if need be could perhaps confirm that you're rank!
Too many chiefs methinks and not enough indians.
