  The Tories have been weak on the ground, either because they've put everything on their showman and ramming the tiresome triple-word banality down our throats, or because of their usual sense of entitlement. (Anecdotal I know, but houses up my way are yet to receive any communication whatsoever from Elphicke: no leaflet, phone call or knock on the door. Unlike all others, excepting WEP - but then we are a long way from Twickenham.) Yougov's final figures show the lead narrowing (with many constituencies too close to call) and are projecting a majority of 28. Or a hung parliament. Or a huge majority. The Tories' star performer is also their greatest liability. Result depends on how many floaters finally see the gorilla in the suit before marking their 'X'.
