  Spiteful action - they blame pensioners for voting Tory and keeping them out of office for years so this is their revenge. They forget that pensioners have younger relatives who are equally unhappy with this tactic. Next will be single person council tax relief. This will all surely come back to haunt them. I do hope so.
  Many of us older people remember living through previous Labour administrations and how disastrous it was. Takes years to recover- but meanwhile Blair feathered his own nest very nicely thank you!
