  For what it's worth I understood it was a ceremonial role .During my tenure as Chairman of DDC it was purely Civic.I t was non political and I never had to,use my casting vote once .The political side of the Council was led by the Leader. Chris did a lot of visits etc to schools .In four years I visited twenty six schools and twenty eight Parish Councils .I found these visits very interesting and I saw it as a great opportunity to visit all parts of the District ,indeed i made many friends over those years.Always lovely to meet people.The children were always of great interest to me .Once you have the chain on politics are cast aside.
