Tory strongholds are just that and there is no point in him visiting. His present strength is having the votes of youngish metropolitan types some of whom are graduates. Quite rightly he is working on getting back the traditional Labour vote that drifted to UKIP and the miner's gala shows that he is right in doing so as Tony Blair never attended and voters up there are aware of that. Other than vote winning his rallies inspire his disciples so that if an election is suddenly called they are ready to do the door knocking stuff that helps to bring victory.
