Jack straw has just announced he won't be standing at the next election.
Foreign office and home office positions he held
8 terms is a long time
He would probably have been reselected.
noted that he could probably have continued another term but felt reaching 70 in his 4th year he didnt want continue
as he wanted to give his family time and stand down
I met jack at Dover police station
he was very welcoming, and i have to say put everyone at there ease.
i wish him well

never had much time for the bloke actually, found him to be a third rate politician that paraded fake working class credentials in order to appear "right on".

Straw is a decent man. He has a good brain but in government was not forceful enough to get his way very often. And then there was the embarrassment of his son, Will, being caught in a tabloid sting operation while selling cannabis.

Innocent till proven guilty, Philip. Bit of a weak politician but not devious, as far as I could see.

A true labour party man
The rich got richer, the poor got poorer
And the immigrants come flooding in
He will be much missed in the Westminster bubble

Tories open the public coffers to buy Straw a cheap get-out-of-jail-free card (even cheaper when you throw in Blair and MI6's Allen and Dearlove).
