Their looks to be a bit of an election push on unemployment stats.
Lots of people getting sanctions over the slightest thing.
I was thinking if people are destitute will this increase the more thuggish to commit muggings, and shoplifting.
In the press ,Dover crime going up ,is their a link ?

Are you saying we should bribe people to stay on the straight and narrow? That would appear to be the inevitable corollary of your thinking.

Get your facts right Brian, the biggest ever raid on pension funds was carried out by Gordon Brown. He didn't even have the courage to announce it personally but hid it in the small print of his budget document.

No peter
But if your going to stop peoples cash it needs to be for not trying to get work ,maybe this stopping of befits should go to an independent panel, not connected to the job shop
I have been looking at the tv program life on the dole ,and I can see theirs people in this program that have mental problems, and are virtually unemployable in a saturated jobs market.
A lot of people cannot get work because they cannot get past the gang masters, controlling the jobs.

Totally agree Keith having watched some of these benefits britain programmes and few of the people featured are capable of holding down a job. Many were doing all they could but were clueless. An example was an enthusiastic 20 year old who went for job that was looking for presentable people because of dealing with the public, wearing a hoodie, t shirt, jeans and trainers.

Correct Howard.
If we hadn't de-industrialised their would have been jobs for this sort of people ,but in a service economy they have no hope.

We de-industrialised before these people were born. They have been comprehensively failed by the education establishment.

We can argue the whys and wherefores but watched another programme tonight on the subject set in run down seaside towns.
Yarmouth is now home to many immigrants that focus on seasonal work and it has caused great animosity from the down at heel locals that were used to coming off benefits for 5 months every year.
No surprise that UKIP have a lot of support there.
