  Surely everyone has already noticed the rapid decline in the Police service in recent times, as I see it an organisation that is barely holding it together will implode under the next round of savage cuts, I dread to think what the consequences will be for us.

  how can you make cuts to a near non exsisting police force.
  
  
  to answer martins question,there will be law and disorder,riots,crime will soar to a level where we will under martial law with curfews.

  The problem is it is in the Blue's DNA to cut public spending without considering the long term effects these have. The top brass in the police don't help their cause by spending large sums of money on poster campaigns and holding street stalls usually with about 6 officers around handing out leaflets telling us to lock our front doors when we leave the house.

  Much policing is done now with CCTV camera:
  if something happens, they can search the film, even months later.
  
  Although the quality is equivalent to a 1905 black and white silent movie, it may be used to portray the silhouette of a hooded person doing in a cash machine, emptying safe-boxes or dismantling the copper lining along the railway system and calmly moving on after stopping to smoke a cigar and knock back a can of beer, and therefore could be a deterrent to future acts of vandalism.

  The problem of all public service is affordability, wages conditions and pensions.
  
  Its mainly the reason for outsourcing and privatisation ,workers in the private sector do not come with the burden of full sick pay from day one, a 37 hour week and unrealistic pension payments .
