  Ryan seems very well informed about the NHS - how inefficient and poorly performing it is. The victim of an undeserved godlike status and its tax funding. The US system is superb, providing excellent modern care, but only for those with health insurance. The answer is a middle way between these two extremes such as the insurance funded German system.
  
  Ryan has been right as well warning about excessive government spending and of the need to eliminate deficits and did so early while irresponsible governments basked in the 'glory' of their excesses before their pack of cards fell foul of economic reality. The USA is facing their own debt crisis and will be under increasing pressure.
  
  That said I have no great enthusiasm for the Romney/Ryan ticket with Romney as the presidential candidate. Bit of a Hobsons choice with the third rate Obama as the incumbent. I am glad I am not American being faced with that choice, a third rater against a second rater (at best). The Republicans have shot themselves in the foot and should have found someone better as Obama should be a sitting duck for a good candidate to beat. Romney may still win and may be preferable to Obama but I certainly do not have high expectations.
