#2859 "Try running a business and perhaps you will discover just how out of touch you are."
After my wife became disabled, I had to resign from my job at Dover Cruise Terminal, at the same time both my parents had cancer and I was looking after them as well for nearly 2 years, so was unable to work.
After they passed away and when I had got my wife to a back to a level of better mobility, as I had never been out of work my entire life and was missing working for a living, I set up my own business.
True to form for a genuine disabled person, while I was distracted with setting up this business, my wife tried to behave like a normal person, doing the chores and ended up 6 weeks, bedridden unable to even go to the toilet.
6 weeks of no wages and the prospect of that happening again, forced me to abandon my business.
Instead, I now work very long hours ,mostly, but not all at home, I attend many meetings, locally & further afield, talking to some very influential people from all parties and all backgrounds and still find time to cook & clean, wash & iron , run a very successful free community festival and watch sky TV, all for £59.75 per week.
So I do not believe that it is me that is out of touch.
