The government needs to be constantly reminded that it is the servant not the master and that the rule of law applies to them.
We, as individuals and companies, are also subject to that rule of law and it is a basic tenant of the British legal tradition that we are free to act in any manner that is not outlawed by our democratically elected parliament. Our actions are not 'by the permission' of the government, but instead the government acts with the permission we give. This is a vital distinction not liked by those who believe that instead we should be the serfs of the government.
I do not condone the breaking of tax law but fully encourage and support the use of legal means to save tax.
