  Peter - I agree about a safety net but things have gone much too far from that to the degree that socialist policies are out and out dangerous to the poor and, indeed all of us who are not rich. The rich of course will be unaffected as they can clear off out of the country or use their wealth to shelter themselves from the evils perpetrated by left wing governments.
