    Barry - just because you are "of the right" does not mean you are always right any more than those of us of other political leanings are. The key thing is surely to engage one's brain evaluate ALL the evidence and make a judgement as to the reasons for the results seen. Of course for some that gets in the way of the sacred cows, but hey ho....

    As for multi-nationals if they earn income here they should pay a fair level of tax here and not use all the marginally legal, but frankly immoral, ways to avoid tax.

    Likewise, fair treatment of workers, fair pay and a reasonable level of protection from wrongful dismissal is actually damn good management and leads to productive workers (on the whole) who actually help business grow. Hire and Fire management alienates people and is a myth of 1960's Americana - none of the major US multi-nationals mentioned in this thread treat their North American or European workforces that way. The way they treat there workforces in other parts of the world is a different matter and frankly too often leaves a very nasty taste and smell.
