    Fred Scales suggested that there was a political dimension to the petition, despite Alan having explained that all four main candidates for the MP job had signed it. He received some well deserved discourtesy from the public. Alan's presentation was highly professional, focused and piercing. I stayed for the next agenda item at which the council basically agreed that the planning department is not fit for purpose.
