To many honours are handed out to those who are simply doing the job for which they are highly paid as well as cronies and party donors.
The honours system has been devalued except for the very few members of the public who get recognised.

To add to my previous post I always thought the honours were awarded to those who went over and above the call of duty so how on earth do the ex Chancellor of the Exchequer or personal stylists qualify.
Historically cronies have always been awarded but usually because they did something special not for simply being around at the right time.

They should go to valor and that only why get a reward for being a MP .The knights were fighters for the Queen or king and the county .What value is there now behind a knighthood or the M.B,E, OR any of them now.

Perhaps I was a bit unfair with my accusation of cronyism, after all Mrs Cameron 's hairdresser got a well deserved gong.
