I have just scanned throughDTC annual report14/15 and I see a donation of £1500 to the staffordshire regiment, am I missing something as I was under the impression that each councillor could allocate £1000 to support good causes in their ward or town, this suggests at least two councillors have allocated funds to the army's Staffordshire regiment now part of the 4th Mercian regiment?

We have a lot of people in the town that served in the Staffordshire regiment, I can only think it could have gone to a charity connected with them.

Maybe, but with no detail I would hate to hazard. Maybe a member of the last administration could shed some light.

You're being rather optimistic Reg the last lot were more secretive than the masons, even taking down their Facebook page when asked too many questions.
I don't see much improvement now when the ones that voted for the pier demolition refuse to give their reasons to the people that voted them in.

I won't hold my breath, that would almost be as futile as asking in the first place!

Other odd ones are: a councillor gave £496.25 to DDC and another or same one, who knows? Gave £500 to the Deal festival!

I think you will fine out that the D.T.C. money went to opening the new White Cliffs branch of the Royal British Legion in which the Staffordshire regiment played a major part in the opening of this branch without that happening the new branch would not have open.

I think it did Vic but I believe that was post election, these payments are specifically councillor allocation from 2014-2015.
I cast no aspersions on these payments (except maybe the one to Deal) but am interested in a little more detail, as it stands I can only say odd.

Some councillors on the last administration gave some of their grant money, to the regiment, they played a big part in Dover in the past and still I believe quite active, as regards the Deal Music festival, I myself never voted to give money to them, they do however bring part of the festival to Dover, but for the amount of money they ask for, I think that a little more should be done in Dover
