Peter Hitchens
'Does the Tory Party still exist? Subscription income is now lower than Ukip's. They haven't published up-to-date membership figures.
My information is that so many have quit in disgust at David Cameron's liberalism that in many seats there will be no troops to fight the General Election.
Good riddance. I could carve a better party out of a banana.'
Peter Hitchens is a lifelong Conservative supporter, he sums up this charade of a party nicely.

The blues biggest worry is the mass defection of activists to UKIP 2/3 years ago. a party can have a great set of policies but without people to knock on doors and get their voters out they will fail.

Question for Barry and Roger:
What policies do they have to appeal to their core voters?

More from Hitchens
'See how quickly the Government's fake hostility towards the EU has vanished? This picture of David Cameron performing a high-five with new European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker shows the truth about the relationship.
Both men understand Mr Cameron has to do a bit of play-acting now and then, to try to whittle away the Ukip vote. Next, they'll be sharing a bottle of something agreeably federalist.'

I think UKIP NEED to look very close at themselves that this time .
They will not get the job of MP in Dover.
They would do much better no going for the seat and putting more funding into local seats they could win then build up in the next five years then go for the MP seat again.
If I was still chairman I would first go for the very easy one and that is town council if they stand in the right wards they could even win and take over the council and I would support that move because a UKIP town council would work with a blue D,DC.
I would also look at where the party could win the odd seat on the D.D.C. some are there .
But UKIP need to get out there now get a lot of ground work done now .
When looking at going up a ladder you fix it so it will not move when going up and start at the very bottom and go up a rung at a time and you will make it to top but trying to get to the top by jumping up it is not a good move and could see you falling flat on your face.

The interesting part of my current role is the advice I receive, the difficult part is sorting the wheat from the chaff.

The unedifying spectacle of Cameron begging the Scots to vote NO, promising more concessions if they stay.
Until recently he never mentioned the referendum, when NO was miles ahead in the polls. A reactionary, spineless politician with no principles whatsoever.

All the parties are doing the same now that the race is a close one, offering inducements at the last minute. If I was a Scot it would move me firmly into the yes camp.

Exactly, people have seen through him and will vote accordingly. If they vote YES his position becomes untenable, must resign, arguably Milliband too.

He has a problem whatever way they vote - if it's NO the Scots have been promised Devo Max and that is already bringing demands from his own back benchers for the same to apply to England.
Party Conference time is going to even livelier than the usual pre-election ones this year.

It seems they might be reneging on their promises already. How can you believe that ?
After all, they (including nick clegg) signed a piece of paper, just as clegg did with the tuiton fees.

All parties are a bloddy shambles Mr Little, yours being central to the chaos.
