Oh dear Howard! Sulking, no. Often fed up with the tone of the forum, yes.

Biggin Hall is in the final stages of stage one refurbishment after which we will be able to welcome people who want to use it for meetings/gatherings etc.

The next stage will be to receive plans from our architect for a brand new public convenience which, subject to all sorts of agreements will be constructed in the very close vicinity. Once this is all done, the existing WC's which everyone will agree are beyond their useful life will be closed and the space integrated to provide more space within Biggin Hall for the community.

Yes it is slow, yes we would like it done faster. BUT, it is going to be done and we have to respect and preserve many relationships along the way. Dover Community Association are very willing to recognise that they have a moral responsibility to assist in the work to provide the new toilets because of the successful negotiations to achieve the Community Asset Transfer of the Biggin building as a whole.

In the meantime, let it be known that if it was not for the financial support of the much maligned Dover a Town Council, the Biggin Hall public conveniences would now be closed. DCA are not constitutionally set up to run public toilets! I have so much respect now of the need for these facilities from a perspective that has only come from having to engage with the human need to pee! Unless you have a problem, you honestly take this for granted. However drugs and drunks do make it more difficult because this is not what we are trained to deal with!!!

I am sure the whole project will happen, but it takes time, determination and patience to make it work. With the hope that DTC continue to fund, there will be no gap in service, but we strive for the new facility.
