Juxtaposition of people controls does indeed have advantages, not least keeping baddies away (good for state and carriers) and avoiding the pulse effect on the controls themselves (good for ports and travellers). The question is whether we have the capacity to conduct extra controls without causing longer queues (and I still don't understand if there will be extra UK controls wef 1st November).

If we don't, then the advantages reduce. Still, it's nice to see any Frenchman putting his trust in UKBF and declaring there will be no queues. I'm sure we all feel the same about PAF's capacity to conduct any extra EU controls within the Eastern Docks.
