    #2624: In some ways I hope he is in denial - a worse take on it would be that he actually believes that UK import clearance triggered from French Dover Straits ports (which is only the Max Fac option from Summer 2016) would work. In the absence of a transition period, it won't because we don't have the freight forwarders/Customs Agents to support clearance at the border/on the crossing. To that extent it's worse than a couple of the ideas in Charlie's own pot-pourri.

    But the effect on Kent (and the Irish Land Boundary) is more to do with exports and EU sanitary checks on "food", 20 - 30% of traffic at a guess. I saw Mr Gove giving evidence to a Select Committee recently and thought that he was rather well-briefed for once.
