I am struggling to see why there is such a drama about Ireland. The facts are simple; post Brexit, we are a non EU country, Ireland is an EU country, ergo, there should be a hard border. Our argument appears to be along the very technical lines of "But it's Ireland, innit". Turn it around, and can you imagine the fuss that John Redwood and his ilk would have made if, say, Romania was leaving the EU but Bulgaria was insisting on retaining a soft border?! We would be up in arms about it.
