    #108, Martin, you are right to say that a man in public office should not say such things, but do you honestly think the gravity of his offence is such that he deserved to lose his career as a teacher for it? Plenty of teachers have criminal convictions for drink-driving yet are permitted to remain in their jobs.

    I agree that his comments were ill-advised and bound to cause offence but feel that 1. it should not have cost him his job and 2. the Conservative party ought to have washed their hands of him completely as he has become a liability to them.
