Bob crow
I will miss bob crow ,one of the few union leaders that recognised with Ben and skinner ,the devastating affect of the EU on working people.

Well that's a shock for sure. He looked in robust health only a short while ago on his Caribbean holiday. Only 52 as well...looking like he had lots of fight left in him for and behalf of trade unionists. Only a couple of days ago he called for MP's to be paid more too...which was quite a surprise coming from him. He will be greatly missed as he was quite a character. One of the old school...manning the barricades as it were.

Keith is correct, he understood how the EU and immigration had forced down workers wages, while the champagne socialists are employing foreign cleaners and au pairs for peanuts.

I trust that when he reaches the Pearly Gates he has his ticket with him, as due to cut backs, God has redeployed St Peter and the gates are now unmanned.

Welcome back Capt. H, was that your little ship I saw yesterday with furled jib and one reef in the main about a mile off the breakwater? I was looking out from the Spirit of France about 5.30 p.m.

And in Australia, the Unions have been so successful in raising wages for workers in the the car industry that all the car manufacturers are now pulling out of Australia because it is just too expensive to make cars there.
Short-term gain, but serious long-term losses, for all the support businesses there too, not just those in the car industry.
There will be serious problems there in around 3 years, when all this happens. With the minimum wage at around $AU 20 per hour, it really is affecting jobs.

Between 2003 and 2013 the Aussie dollar doubled in value. That was much more of a factor than the unions.

It may also have played a part Peter, but we're talking about internal (to Australia) costs and although there are some very wealthy people out there, they are keeping their cars longer. It won't help their economy when they have to start importing them.
