Without doubt a policy that will resonate with so many. A masterstroke to honour the four home nations with a bank holiday; what will Scotland - in particular - make of it, I wonder.
Four extra bank holidays to bring Britain in line with most of the top 20 economies and, according to the Bank of England, cost neutral.
Just because you don't take an interest in politics doesn't mean that politics won't take an interest in you. PERICLES.

How many can we have before they're not cost neutral?

The daft thing is three of these Saint holidays would be at the time of year which already has a lot of bank holidays, only St Andrew's is in November. Plus why give a holiday to a part of the UK which wants to leave the rest of us.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

The Scots aleady have St Andrews off Jan they would be given a day in Lieu. I agree about the bunching up of Bank Holidays and would add to that the problems caused to businesses and schools if we had them on the correct days. Our present system is sensible in that they fit around weekends which wouldn't work with saints days.

How many days off do we need ..Its an election gimmick which will not change my mind .Tell me where is the loss of money going to come from .I was brought up when closing major factories was very costly?Free school meals for all so the cost for all these gimmicks will fall on those who do work.

sue we are to old for free school dinners, and besides factorys don't need to shut down for the day/days concernd.a enhanced hourly rate should suffice if people have to work.

Corbyn was quite clear on this, the funding will come from VAT charged on private education, in my view an excellent policy.

So parents who might forego expensive holidays and outings to send their child to a private school will be expected to fund the extra holidays.
Be better to cut back on the jollies and perks that MP's get instead of penalising those that work hard.

Yes Howard families do have to forgo a lot to send their children to Private schools .I still had to pay some fees although my Son was awarded a scholarship .I still had to pay KCC towards the education budget in other words you pay twice and my sons place at DGSB went to some other lucky child .No I haven't been abroad on holiday since before I was married.
Jan is correct you do have To sacrifice .
