I think Obama has got this right, something must be done to stop Isis setting up Caliphates and persecuting minorities.

The EU response was rather wishy/washy thankfully our Prime Minister recognises the dangers that IS will bring to Europe if they are not stopped in their tracks. Read this morning that between 500 and 700 british citizens are fighting with IS so we have them to look forward to if and when some return.

Can people still be stripped of their citizenship, if so IS are welcome to keep them.

That would only apply to someone who was a naturalised citizen, i suspect those fighting for IS are all British born so we are stuck with them.

Interesting dilemma! What do you actually do with hundreds of fanatical people that probably hate us but have a right to live here? I can`t imagine that our security people would have the resources to keep an eye on all of them.

Not a dilemna to me John, firstly if they are born and bred Brits they have the right to live here, maximum security prisons will welcome them.
You're right that some will slip through the net but judging on the lack of terrorist outrages here our security services have their fingers on the pulse.

Let`s hope that your right Howard, but there`s a lot of them of course. In addition to that we shouldn`t forget those who have exactly the same sympathies and sentiments but didn`t actually leave the country. I agree that the maximum security prison would be a good idea but can`t see it actually happening apart from perhaps one or two being shoved inside as a token gesture. Don`t forget about their human rights etc!
It would be good to see their own community deal with them, but we all know that won`t happen either!
Perhaps after Scotland has voted "No" to independence we can take over the Shetland Isles and turn it into our own " Guantanamo Bay". Actually that idea, or something similar, might not be as daft as it first sounds!

One way of stopping their return would be to publicise that these fanatics will be put in prison with a full life term sentence with no parole.

It was the air strikes of 2003 that sowed the seeds for ISIS/ISIL/IS (or whatever permutation of those initials they are going by today). Have we learned nothing?

The situation is different from 2003 when all different reasons were given for the invasion, today it is purely about halting genocide.
I have no doubt that IS are pure evil and can only be stopped by brute force.

Absolutely agree Howard, they must be evil to do what they have been doing - and all in the name of Islam.
