As we are aware Lyn Dykes was awarded £45,000 in compensation recently because of the treatment by Deal Town Council.

One of the grievances that was upheld was that she was over worked doing around 10 unpaid extra hours a week.

Since Lyn's departure, the deputy town clerk has taken on the role of 'Acting Town Clerk'. There has been no recruitment of an acting deputy clerk so the this means she now has the work load of both Town Clerk and the Deputy Town Clerk.

As it was found that the former town clerk was overworked surely The Acting Town Clerk must be run ragged? If she is not run ragged and cope with the office without support as she has since May 2013 (9 months) then we have to question

    a) the validity of Lyn Dykes claim?
    b) why 2 people were employed all this time if only one was necessary?

If the above is correct and 2 jobs are now being done by the same person then the rate payers of Deal will surely be paying out a third compensation and lessons have still not been learned.
