  I have never, ever understood why people use self service checkouts. They are an utter disgrace. When we purchase anything from a supermarket, especially the dreaded Poundland, the cost of paying someone to operate a checkout has been factored in to the price you pay for it. When you use a self service checkout you are doing two things....one is doing someone out of employment, and the other is allowing the store to rip you off. When we use one of these things we should be offered a discount of the factored in cost of not doing so. It makes sense. What is even worse are the disgraceful checkouts in Aldi, where the aged, and people who are otherwise slower, cannot manage the ridiculously fast speed.Shame on them.
