    Gosh! You really had it tough! It was luxurious life for some of us in the 50’s.

    After a stint in the Brecons we could look forward to the comforts of these unheated ‘sheds,’ which during the Winter I was there, were constantly wet inside too:



    Life improved even further when we were overseas as the accommodation had natural air conditioning.



    We also had non-sweet toilets which we shared with many whiskery, long tailed, four legged
    residents.



    Sometimes we would stay up all night waiting to meet any unwelcome visitors who we had to greet in a loud voice, in three different languages, before helping them on their way!

    This charmed life was known as National Service..............
