No victory, but the raising of a large white flag, NM. The government merely committed to allow, 'wherever possible', scrutiny of (but not a vote on) 'significant national measures'. When 'wherever possible' and 'significant' are simply what Hancock decides they are, and when any fool can see that 'national' doesn't mean 'local', the 'scrutiny' here means 'maybe have a look at'. Other than a few honourable exceptions, MPs, in approving renewal, ducked out of basic responsibilities: representation and oversight.
Funny how not so long ago there was a massive song and dance, especially from the 'Left', about prorogation.
