Homecoming parade for Douglas Haig, Commander of the British Expeditionary Force

Date: 19 December 1918
This photo, taken on Dover seafront, shows the homecoming of Douglas Haig (Commander of the British Expeditionary Force) five weeks after the signing of the Armistice. It is believed that the picture shows Vice-Admiral Sir Roger Keyes, Commander of the Dover Patrol, seated beside him in the open car. Earl Haig is seated immediately behind the driver of the car. Earl Haig had travelled from Boulogne to Dover on the hospital ship Jan Breydel.
