Received this from Kent Highways.
"Temporary Daytime Northbound Closure - A256 York Street, Dover - from 11 October 2011
The northbound carriageway of the A256 York Street, Dover will be closed for carriageway resurfacing, for a total of 5 weekdays.
These works are planned to be carried out from Tuesday 11 October until Friday 14 October inclusive and Monday 17 October 2011, between 7.00 am and 7.00 pm.
The road will be re-opened outside these times.
This only affects the northbound carriageway from the A20 York Street Roundabout heading towards Folkestone Road.
The alternative route is via the A20 Trunk Road to Courtwood Interchange then back along the B2011 Folkestone Road (road names detailed in attached Public Notice).
Durham Hill will be closed at the junction with York Street with a local diversion via North Military Road and South Military Road.
Maison Dieu Road will cease to be one-way for buses only, between the junctions with Castle Street and Pencester Road.
This is for the 7 days from 11 to 17 October inclusive and only applies to buses, with limited access to residents within this section of road.
Traffic from Dieu Stone Lane will need to turn left into Maison Dieu Road during this period.
The closure is to enable carriageway resurfacing to be carried out by KCC Highways.
Some delays are inevitable, and it is suggested that drivers consider using alternative routes for the duration of the works."
Sounds like a plan that was drawn up on a computer, rather than a visit to the actual sites - Maison Dieu Road as a two-way from Pencester to Castle Street ?
Can you imagine a truck or two going the normal way along Maison Dieu and a bus driving towards it, or trying to turn into Maison Dieu Road and then left into Pencester ?
Roger
